New Boko Haram video on Youtube is taking the internet by storm. In the new video, the most-feared militant group in Nigeria is offering to give back the almost 300 girls they have kidnapped last month, but there's a catch. It seems that the families of the young girls can't be too happy just yet. Though the new Boko Haram video on Youtube has offered to give back the young girls, they want prisoners in exchange.

According to Reuters, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has offered to release more than 200 of the girls they have kidnapped last month. This offer was made public today in the new Boko Haram video on Youtube. However, in spite of the seemingly good news, each girl will only be given in exchange for militant prisoners.

In the new Boko Haram video on Youtube, 100 girls are shown wearing full veils and praying in an undisclosed location. The video spanned a full 17 minutes with the Boko Haram leader speaking and shots of the kidnapped girls.

A 1.25 minute portion of the new Boko Haram video on Youtube also showcased the girls sitting on the ground and chanting. After this, a shot of Shekau wearing military fatigues and holding an AK-47 addressed the camera. He said that the girls have been converted to Islam and that he will return them in exchange of prisoners.

He said in the new Boko Haram video on Youtube, as translated in English from his words originally spoken in a Nigerian language, "All I am saying is that if you want us to release the girls that we have kidnapped, those who have not accepted Islam will be treated as the Prophet (Mohammed) treated infidels and they will stay with us." The leader added, "We will not release them while you detain our brothers." After which he named a series of cities in Nigeria. It was unclear though whether Shekau was in the same location as the girls, reports Reuters.

Reuters reports that what the Boko Haram militants are fighting for is an Islamist state. To get what they want, they have invaded a secondary school in the northeastern village of Chibok on April 14 and seized 276 girls during exams. Though some of the kidnapped girls have reportedly escaped, about 200 have still remained missing.

Prior to the new Boko Haram video on Youtube today, Shekau also released a video earlier in the month saying that the group will be selling the girls "in the market." This statement has provoked global outrage and concern, reports Reuters. This mass abduction and attack has led to the creation of a support campaign using Twitter with the hashtag #bringbackourgirls. People from all over the world, including celebrities have already expressed their support and taken part in the campaign.

Nigeria has already deployed two army divisions to look for the girls. Meanwhile, several nations including the United States, Britain, Isreal and France have offered the country help.

According to Alarabiya, Nigeria has rejected the prisoner swap offer for hostage schoolgirls in the new Boko Haram video on Youtube. The Nigerian government quickly rejected the deal as it was "absurd" for a terrorist group to be setting conditions. Interior Minister Abba Moro told Agence France-Presse, "The issue in question is not about Boko Haram... giving conditions."

Authorities are reportedly holding hundreds of alleged Boko Haram militants. The suspected militants reportedly tried to escape and overpowered guards at a prison near the presidential villa in Abuja in March. This action triggered a gun battle which killed 21 people.

New Boko Haram video on Youtube is just one of the many ways the militant group has set terror on people's lives in Nigeria. The group has reportedly killed thousands since 2009 and destabilized parts of northeast Nigeria.
