Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed Friday morning is shocking news to the school and to the country. Reports say that the reason the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed is allegedly because of a simple prom dispute.

The Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed is 16-year-old female Maren Sanchez, a junior in the school, as identified by school officials. According to a report by Minute Man News Center, the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed, Sanchez, was allegedly stabbed to death by a male fellow student. The name of the male student who stabbed Sanchez in the neck wasn't identified. The male student who stabbed and had Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

According to the police, the male student responsible for having the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed, could be arraigned Friday in Superior Court in Milford if he is charged.

A report by Milford Now details the incident and reports that the death could have related to the students' junior prom. Though police hasn't confirmed in a press conference that the incident of the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed could have been because of a junior prom rejection, the school's junior prom has been suspended due to the killing. The Jonathan Law High School was supposed to be scheduled Friday.

Police Chief Keith Mello said that Sanchez, the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed, was stabbed by a 16-year-old male in the school's first-floor hallway before first period Friday morning. He added that the incident happened around 7:15 a.m. and that after the incident, school staff members and EMS performed life saving measures at the scene trying to save Sanchez' life. Sanchez was immediately transported to Bridgeport Hospital with life-threatening wounds to her neck. Despite having been brought to the hospital, Sanchez was pronounced dead at 7:43 a.m.

A school resource officer handcuffed the stabber and brought to an office for interrogation after he was taken into custody by staff members. Police Chief Mello said that the suspect for the having Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed isn't recognizable to police and there are no information regarding him from the school staff prior to the incident.

Parents were told of the Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed before the prom and were asked to pick up their children in school. The school conducted an early dismissal at 9:00 a.m. to assist police investigation. The police are currently working with the Board of Education during further investigations.

According to Superintendent Elizabeth Feser, Sanchez was a well-liked student athlete. She is also in the National Honor Society and good academic records. Feser said, "She was a vibrant contributor to the school community and we will greatly mourn this loss. We are devastated as a community."

Jonathan Law High School principal Fran Thompson, informed Sanchez's parents regarding the death through email, saying:

"Maren, a junior, was everything right with Jonathan Law. An honor student, active member of our school community and incredible young woman, her time with us was much too short but her spirit will be with us forever. I ask you to please join me in praying for Maren, her friends, her family and all of our school community as we cope with this horrific event." 

Jonathan Law High School student in Milford killed and now State Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford, said she has spoken with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy who said that the state is ready to provide whatever services it can.
