Chris Pine DUI charge in a foreign country is unexpected news. According to reports, the Chris Pine DUI arrest in New Zealand happened because of drunk driving in the country. The Star Trek Into The Darkness actor was pulled over by police on March 1. This happened after the 33-year-old actor attended a wrap party for Z for Zachariah.

The New Zealand Police arrest on Chris Pine DUI said in a statement that a 33-year-old American was charged March 1 with driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, which is .08 percent. The police who arrested the star apparently did not identify the man, but said he was stopped through a routine early morning check near the South Island town of Methven.

They said in the statement, "Given that the matter is now before the court police will not be releasing any further information."

Methven's Blue Pub manager Casey Crawford told The Press that ChrisPine was celebrating on the night of Feb. 28 with his co-stars. He was also with girlfriend Iris Bjork Johannesdottir, a beauty queen from Iceland.

Crawford also said in the newspaper interview that although Chris Pine was drinking beer, he did not appear to be drunk when he left at around 2:30 a.m. He added "Chris was really good. They were a good crowd, the whole lot of them."

However good their crowd was, it is unknown why Pine still chose to get behind the wheel despite the club offering transportation for its patrons, and resulted in the Chris Pine DUI.

Chris Pine is in New Zealand for the filming of Z for Zachariah. He is in the film together with The Wolf of Wall Street's Margot Robbie and 12 Years a Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor, who attended the wrap party with Pine and his girlfriend.
