The Monument Men, an action drama directed by George Clooney, was released on Feb.2, 2014.

Based on true stories in the book The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History by Robert M. Edsel, the movie stars Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and Cate Blanchett.

The Monuments Men is a group of special experts including museum directors, curators, art historians, artists, architects, and educators, whose task was to preserve monuments and artistic masterpieces from the deterioration of World War II. Movie director Clooney stars World War II platoon commissioned to rescue cultural treasures and artwork stolen by the Nazis and return them to their rightful owners.

Faced with the German army who were ready to destroy everything, the group of men and women could have found the mission impossible to accomplish. But as the Monuments Men, these experts have seen the impossible possibility in task. They have risked their life and raced against time to track, locate and save thousands of masterpieces from Picassos and Rembrandts and Da Vinci's Last Supper to preserve 1000 years of culture. Their task was without precedent!

According to a review on The Washington Post, the film "looks terrific,... exists in a heightened netherworld between immersive realism and carefully set-dressed theatricality." Even though receiving mixed to negative review, the film remain as an epic to restore how the real Monuments Men did their job.

The film was originally set to be released at the end of 2013. However, due to certain controversial issues in post-production, the release day was delayed to Feb.7, 2014.
