A school in Illinois is about to make The Guinness Book of World Records with 24 sets of twins in one grade. The discovery was made by 11 year old twins Luke and Ryan Novosel who attend Highcrest Middle School in Wilmette which is a suburb of Chicago. The twin brothers discovered the number of twins in their school when they were searching for a way to get in the Guinness Book of World Records.

"Their friends tried endless pogo stick jumps. One practiced in the shower for an attempt at the loudest burp," reported the AP.

Guinness' website says,Guinness World Records is the universally recognized authority on record-breaking achievement," and that "The annual Guinness World Records bookis the best-selling copyrighted title of all time."

"We were absolutely shocked. It's blowing it away," their mother Nancy Fedley said about the current record of 16 twins to the AP.

With help from their parents, the brothers submitted the application to the Guinness Book of World Records and sent in birth certificates and photos of proof to show that they were in fact enrolled at the school. The Ap reported that they expect an official recognition in a few weeks.

"Most of the twins are fraternal. The breakdown: three sets of boy-boy twins, 11 sets of girl-girl twins and 10 sets of boy-girl twins. The two sets of identical twins are girls," reported the AP.

"I think it's just statistically kind of bizarre," Fendley added.

Before this discovery there were three schools that shared the current record of 16 pairs of twins in one grade. The schools are: Valley Southwoods Freshman High School in West Des Moines, Iowa; Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut and Maine High School in Park Ridge, Illinois.

"The whole school thinks it's the greatest thing. ... It's been such a fun, creative experience," Fendley said to the AP.
