Following in the footsteps of AmaWaterWays' announcement that their AmaVida ship will be christened by Sharon Stone, Uniworld has enlisted the services of another actress, Andie MacDowell, to do the same honer for their Queen Isabel vessel.

"The Academy Award-nominated star of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Groundhog Day" will serve as godmother for the line's 118-passenger Queen Isabel in a ceremony scheduled for March 22 in Porto, Portugal," the statement said, according to USA Today.

"We are delighted that Ms. MacDowell will be Godmother of our new ship as she represents the same timeless beauty and elegance that befittingly represents the Queen Isabel," said Guy Young, President of Uniworld, according to globenewswire.com.

However, does that date, country and town ring a bell?

Yes, it is the same date, country and town as AmaWaterways' AmaVida christening by Stone.

Not a coincidence.

In another comparison of the AmaVida, "the Queen Isabel, (the replacement of the Douro Spirit, which Uniworld inaugurated in 2011) is an upscale, modern vessel that ushers in a new era for cruising on the Douro. It features two spacious suites that measure 323 square feet as well as large standard cabins with walk-out balconies," reported USA Today.

On the AmaWaterways' equivalent, there is a sun deck with swimming pool; fitness and spa area; an outside bar; and a restaurant with an outdoor dining area.

"Uniworld has launched a number of ships over the years here, but Queen Isabel will have a more classic style and timeless elegance similar to Uniworld's other ships in Europe, which are all uniquely designed and decorated," Young stated, reported globenewswire.com.

The Queen Isabel will sail Uniworld's 10-night Portugal, Spain and the Douro River itinerary (home to the Douro River Valley--a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rambling vineyards.), which includes visits to several Portuguese towns.
