For those who think the cruise industry is in bad shape thanks to the recent troubles of Carnival, think again.

Though big cruise lines might be heading for some troubled water, small river-cruise lines are finding ways to thrive and following in the foot-steps of Avalon and Windstar, AmaWaterways, not only will be unveiling a new ship (the AmaPrima and the AmaCerto--their largest and most imaginative ships, according to French-at-a-Touch.com), but they have also announced new plans for the upcoming cruising season.

In a strategy to attract solo travelers, the California-based company said in a statement on Monday that a single traveler can book a cabin for two without paying the "single supplement" (which is a charge for being single, booking a room meant for two) that the line normally charges, according to USA Today.

The catch in the offer is that it is only available for select cabin categories on select 2013 cruises on Europe's Danube river, Seine river and various Dutch waterways when booked by March 31, as well as on some sailings in Asia and Africa, according to USA Today.

On the flip-side this promotion does include seven-night Holland & Belgium sailings aboard the AmaVerde and AmaPrima departing on April 19 and April 30 (fares from $2,699) and seven-night Paris & Normandy sailings on the AmaLegro departing on May 2 and July 4 (fares from $3,199). Seven-night Romantic Danube and Blue Danube Discovery sailings (both from $2,799) as well as 14-night Magnificent Europe cruises (from $5,399), according to USA Today.

French-at-a-Touch,com, states that with a fleet of 15 custom-designed vessels, one can cruise Europe, Russia, Vietnam,Africa and Cambodia.
