Katy Perry has recently received criticism for her collaboration with Migos, a trio group known to be homophobic. Ironically, the "Roar" singer received and LGBT award just weeks before. Perry collaborated in a new single "Bon Appetit."

Perry is a vocal proponent of LGBT rights but with her work with Migos, she was said to lack sensitivity and concern on issues affecting the gay and lesbian community.

The Hollywood Gossip reported that Migos had a history of mocking the said group via their homophobic comments. It happened back in January when rapper iLoveMakonnen came out as gay and Quavo commented: "This world is not right."

So when Orlando Bloom's ex-girlfriend worked with the rappers, her fans were shocked and doubted the singer's sincerity. She showed proofs of her support when she chose Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

Migos' Quavo responded to the backlash of the fans regarding their homophobic views. He said that they are not gay haters but the LGBT group was not convinced. He also cited that his collaboration with bisexual singer Frank Ocean proves that he is not homophobic.

Pink News reported that Katy Perry was awarded the Human Rights Campaign's National Equality Award. The "Dark Horse" singer narrated her own sexual experiences with women during a speech in Los Angeles. She also explained the meaning of her song "I Kissed A Girl" which she released in 2008 during the occasion.

The singer also revealed her struggles with her sexuality and her religion. She used to shun gays when she was yet active in her faith. She said that when she was growing up, she believes that homosexuality means abomination and hell. She wanted to go to heaven.

To appease the angered fans, Migos claimed that they are fans of Makonnen's music. They also informed that "We have no problem with anyone's sexual preference. We love all people, gay or straight, and we apologize if we offended anyone."

Katy Perry, however, cannot retrieve the disgust of the dishonored community. The singer has yet to prove that she is for the LGBT community.
