After the news came out that Kristen Stewart cheated on fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson with 42-year-old "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, the actress faced a media firestorm of bashing. It seemed like almost everyone was against her, but Emma Watson said she's on Stewart's side, Us Weekly reported.

Watson claimed Stewart was treated unfairly and got so much negative attention only because she's a celebrity.

"Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect. Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world," Watson, 22, told Vanity Fair Italia. "For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it."

She emphasized that Watson is not the only one who has ever done something wrong, and doesn't deserve the bashing. "Everyone makes mistakes, everyone," the Harry Potter star added in the magazine interview. "On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson. But it's also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible."

Stewart issued a statement apologizing for her cheating, after photos of her with Sanders released by Us Weekly became public.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," read the statement, issued to Us Weekly. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Stewart and Watson, along with Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, had the chance to bond a couple months ago.

"I think people assume that actresses don't want to [be friends]," Stewart told MTV. "It was kind of a great feeling, to be honest. I was like, 'This is kind of just awesome.'"
