There was a report that says Tom Holland's Spider-Man would be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the sequel of the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" comes out. But apparently that report is false, and Holland's contract actually calls for three "Spider-Man" solo films and three movie appearances.

According to a report from Cosmic Book News, the former Chairperson of the Motion Pictures Group of Sony Pictures Amy Pascal said that Spider-Man will likely exit the MCU after the sequel of the stand-alone movie.

Pascal said it was an amazing experience of having studios "deciding to work together to make a film." She said it doesn't happen very often, and it "may never happen again, after they do the sequel."

She did say it was a selfless thing to do for Sony, Disney, and Marvel to agree to have Peter Parker be part of the MCU. It was actually rare and smart for the three companies to join together for this project.

Though it may seem like bad news for Marvel and Spider-Man fans, Forbes is saying that the report is false. What Pascal said was that additional deals have been signed to include more films and it remains to be seen what will happen next after the deals are completed.

The report is also saying that it's not actually a good idea for Sony and Disney-Marvel to end their relationship, considering that the "Spider-Man" solo movies are expected to do well within the MCU. Only "Spider-Man 3," the 2007 movie starring Toby Maguire, was the only "Spider-Man" movie under Sony that experienced an increase over the previous film's box office.

Furthermore, Holland's contract is for six appearances as Spider-Man, with three of those coming in solo films and three coming in Marvel movie appearances. The two appearances are likely the "Captain America: Civil War" and the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" movie, leaving only one more movie appearance.

As for the solo films, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be the first with two more to be scheduled. The report said that it's still possible for Sony to fulfill that contract by coming out with a third solo movie that's not part of the MCU and just let the audience assume it is, and an appearance in a Venom or Black Cat movie.

But the report said that with Sony's tie-ins with MCU going well, it's likely that Spider-Man will make an appearance in the fourth "Avengers" movie and another third film with another MCU character. Whatever direction both Sony and Marvel decides, it's hard to see how they can pass up on a lucrative partnership.

The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" release is set for July 7, 2017, while the "Avengers: Infinity War" is targeted for May 4, 2018. Check out the new trailer of Spider-Man's first movie in the MCU.
