DC fans continue to glean what information they can from the recently released "Justice League" trailer. As it turns out, the latest hint they got from the trailer is Steppenwolf's attack on "Aquaman's" home of Atlantis.

As per Comicbook, Steppenwolf is the leader of Apokolips's military leader. With the appearance of the parademons, it can easily be deduced that their overlord Darkseid has a hand behind "Batman's" vision of the apocalypse. Coincidentally, Darkseid's base of operations is named Apokolips. A name that can you tremble and cringe at the same time.

Thanks to the trailer and scenes from "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," fas now know that the plot for the story involves a piece of Apokoliptian technology. While we only see a little of it, its power and importance to the Apokaliptians are too great. So much so that Darkseid's lieutenant is sent to retrieve it.

According to Screen Rant, the artifact in question is the Mother Box and is currently being kept in the underwater city of Atlantis. This is hinted by shots of Atlantean guards in the trailer.

Given that "Aquaman" is probably the most hyped member of the team, it seems appropriate that he's the one to duel the film's main villain. After all, who wouldn't want a tattooed badass use his trident to kill some aliens underwater?

Steppenwolf is probably aware of its location and went there himself to get it. This probably explains why the trailer shows a scene where "Aquaman" is hit by a giant object, which upon closer inspection appears to be an ax.

He was seen swimming before being hit by the ax suggesting that he may not have expected a giant piece of magically enhanced metal. That or that he was just arriving and Steppenwolf was not in the mood to entertain interlopers.

If the latter case is true, it may already be too late and Darkseid's lieutenant is just enjoying the carnage. This means that the battle scene in the trailer was already a fight to retrieve the Mother Box and not a battle to prevent Steppenwolf from obtaining it. Based on those seen before, both could be possible.

His attack on Arthur Curry's world may have been the catalyst for the formation of the "Justice League." Realizing he cannot beat Steppenwolf and his minions alone, the water hero is recruited into a superhero team. He does not want to team up which was demonstrated by him fighting Bruce Wayne prior to joining.

However, this rag-tag team of superheroes may or may not be capable of stopping the aliens. Which brings us to the other question in everyone's mind since the trailer was released: where's "Superman?"

The caped crusader seems to be missing in action after getting whooped by Batman. This is despite him being one of the important members of the team. Where is he in all this? Does he plan to abandon Earth? Of course not, since he is a hero, this could be the opportunity for redemption and a way to tie up loose ends.

We speculate that "Superman" will come swooping in when everything else seems lost. The "Man of Steel will become the man who steals as he takes the glory of putting Steppenwolf in his place. Catch "Justice League" when it hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
