The serialized sci-fi drama, "The 100" has been among the lucky picks for season 5 renewal by the CW. It is one of the first TV series that was supposed to be designed for a shorter run since it was weathered by certain controversy when the lesbian character during the last season was killed off. Accordingly, there will be 13 episodes expected to be shown on this upcoming season.

As per Deadline, "The 100" was a series created by Jason Rothenberg who happened to be an executive producer and a showrunner at the same time. As per ratings, "The 100" got the top rank in CW which may land strong in No. 1 or in No. 2 spot and has even beat other TV series of the network.

For three straight years, CW has given early renewals for their series in the midseason and luckily these includes the following shows; "The Vampire Diaries", "The 100", "Arrow", "The Flash", DC's "Legends of Tomorrow", "Supergirl" and "Supernatural."

As per Screen Rant, the early renewal of the series only goes to show that CW network has much faith on what the series can offer to its audience. On the other hand, this is also good news for its fans since season 5 will be airing soon.

Further, this early renewal of the series might remove the suspense from what is to come with the show. However, they still have half of what is still unpredictable to happen this season. The production had been teasing already of the possible deaths of some of the fan-favorite characters. Despite deaths, lead stars Clarke and Bellamy are still sure to be safe before the season ends.

"The 100," which story was based on the book of Kass Morgan is produced by Ally Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. The executive producers will be Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstein.
