"Avatar 2" director, James Cameron, recently revealed the news that the second sequel for the highest-grossing movie of all time in the world isn't coming yet by Christmas 2018.

Apparently, this has been the third time for the second sequel to have its delay. After it originally hit the big screen for the first time, the film was supposed to be scheduled on December 2020, 2022, and 2023 respectively for its upcoming franchise.

Further, the director hasn't mentioned yet whether other sequels will be behind this schedule, but those target dates of release are likely to be affected too. The director plans to shoot the film simultaneously.

Cameron also told the press that the 2018 release isn't happening yet and they haven't announced any exact release date as of the moment. He also added that people must understand that they are not only making "Avatar 2" but as well as the third to the fifth sequel and it is a whole lot of undertaking, Variety reported.

Accordingly, the movie is said to consume the next eight years of his life, Cameron added. He also added that some of its stars will reprise their roles like Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana. On the other hand, Sigourney Weaver, whose character died in the 2009 original film, will also play a new role.

Further, the 62-year old director also explained some of his decent excuses on why they cannot make the "Avatar 2" yet. He emphasized that they took four and a half year to complete a single movie and now, they will be making four, Metro reported.

Since the second sequel has been delayed again, it looks as if fans will be waiting a little longer for the rest of the franchise to be aired. "Avatar 3" is also slated to air on 2020 which will come after "Avatar 2".
