It has been a long-time rumor that "Gladiator 2" is currently into its production. However, Ridley Scott, the film director, hasn't confirmed the rumor yet. Despite this speculation, Scott wanted to bring back Russell Crowe character if he'd be given the chance to continue the sequel again. Definitely, Scott has laid down the finest idea of bringing Maximus back to life.

It was in 2000 when the historical epic of Scott told a story of Maximus. He was known as a Roman General who found his self being a slave during the time of Commodus, who is also the son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Commodus betrayed him due to his hunger of power. He made control of Rome and even murdered his own father. Apparently, the film back then was a huge success and was able to take home prestigious awards like Best Picture and a Best Actor award for Crowe during the 73rd Academy Awards, Joblo reported.

The character of Crowe happened to die during the first sequel. It would be impossible if he will appear again on "Gladiator 2," however, the creators will try to make it happen. Some reporters already asked Scott about having a second sequel, and much of their surprise, the director doesn't only want to have a second franchise but more than that, he is also making up ways for Crowe to return to his role as Maximus.

As per Movie Web, Scott happened to be in Texas last weekend for a film festival. During an interview, he added that there is a way for him to bring back Maximus to life. It can also be recalled that years ago, Crowe hired a screenwriter named Nick Cave to take turns in writing the sequel. However, Scott didn't mention if he is going to make use of this idea.
