The biggest zip line in Europe is opening in Wales in March. Zip World Snowdonia at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesday has claims to being the longest line in Europe, reports CNN.

"The Zip Lines are located in part of the quarry that has been decommissioned for ten years and already flora and fauna are reappearing," states Zip World Snowdonia's website. "The rides provide a bird's-eye view of 200 years of history, the working quarry and the spectacular north wales coast including Anglesey and on a clear day even the Isle of Man."

Visitors to the zip line adventure will wear water resistant gear and goggles and soar 1.6 kilometers through the air at 120 kilometers per hour all while being 200 meters about a mountain lake, reports CNN.

The journey lasts for two to three hours and participants will be supplied with the flying suits, goggles and helmets.

The company's website says that the area is ideal for a zip lining tour and was once the largest slate quarry in the world. It was also where the first zip lines were built over 100 years ago in order to extract rocks.

CNN reported that the plans for the zip wire were approved in April 2012 by the Gwynedd County Council with hopes to put Bethesda on the map.

"Bethesda is almost dying on its feet at present, and there are real hopes that this will prove to be a substantial boost," a committee member said to the Daily Post.

Adult ticket prices go for £50 (US$80) and children's tickets are  £40 (US$64).
