CW has another teen drama which will continue on air as they renewed "Riverdale" for season 2. The renewal news was confirmed by the Archie Comics Twitter account. The show is not an absolute adaptation of the original comic book which was launched on 1939 but however, viewers are expected to see a more modern take of the characters that are already famous in this series.

The second season will still involve the main characters like Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, as well as Veronica Lodge. There will also be supporting actors like Jughead Jones, Cheryl Blossom, Reggie Mantle, who was known to have made a guest appearance as well, Polygon reported.

The series has been produced by Greg Berlanti together with the chief creative officer of Archie Comics, Robert Aguirre-Sacasa. Apparently, this series will be the next obsession in CW. It was in January when they had the series debut and it gained over 1.4 million viewers and with an average of 1.2 million viewers weekly, Entertainment Online reported.

With the renewal, "Riverdale" is going to join other CW TV series line-up that had been renewed by the network. These series includes "Arrow", "The Flash", "Legends of Tomorrow", "Supernatural", and "Jane the Virgin."

It has been a lucky renewal for this series since CW has been picking from left to right on what probably are the fan's favorites. One of the actors to reprise the role is Ross Butler. The actor also celebrated the renewal news of "Riverdale" season 2 on his Twitter account. He posted an adorable photo of the cast all together while having dinner.

The "Riverdale" season 2 is set to air on Thursday night at 9 pm ET on CW. It is definitely a top and prime spot for the series while replacing the time slot of DC's "Legend of Tomorrow".
