Sony together with Laboratory of magicraft is trying to make magic a reality by developing a device called Casting Assistance Device of CAD in collaboration with the upcoming film "Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Calls the Stars". The device will be showcased on this month's Anime Japan event where the booth will be staffed by volunteer researchers. The cosplay prop is based on the original CAD device portrayed in the light novel and anime adaptation of the series.

In the anime and light novels, the CAD is a spell support processor that converts Psions or magical energy into electrical signals into perceivable forms of magic. It replaces the tomes, talismans and other paraphernalia to invoke magic. CADs in the anime differ in forms and shapes depending on the modern wizard that is using it. However, Sony's version will only measure the magical potential of attendees.

According to Anime News Network, Sony's device will use a loop-cast function to control multiple actions and measure the guest's inherent Psion. A new website was published to provide other information regarding the device. The presentation will be hosted by Yuichi Nakamura who voiced the protagonist of the series, Tatsuya Shiba together with Miyuka Shiba's voice actress, Saori Hayami.

Aside from the website, information regarding the device is currently under wraps but an official blue print sketch was provided by the developers. Basing on the pistol-like design on the sketch, the final product will probably resemble the Silver Horn CAD as reported by Crunchyroll. As we all know the Silver Horn device was used by the protagonist, Tatsuya in the "Irregular at Magic High School" anime.

Additional information for the device will be announced in the Anime Japan 2017 event that will be held on March 25 and 26, 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight venue in Koto Ward, Tokyo, Japan. The latest convention will also feature 182 companies with each of them presenting their own product. "Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Calls the Stars" movie is set to release on June 17, 2017.
