"Criminal Minds" season 12 is about to unveil new changes about the scenes and the characters. As Thomas Gibson departed from the show, it generally meant that the show has to make some shuffles of the casts around and bring some changes with the characters at the same time. Meanwhile, this season will also feature Spencer Reid who will be facing a new circumstance of being behind the bars.

As per Cinema Blend, serialized storytelling is no longer new with "Criminal Minds" since the show already had explored into different serials of multiple times and most of the time, it is of immense success. On this season 12, the kind they tell a story might make a shift this time. Mr. Scratch who has been known as the murderer has been involved with the BAU for years now and it was an example of that certain changes that they're going to unfold.

Fans should expect that the second half of this season is going to be one big story with no more breaks and filters in between. The production promised its viewers to have a merely dark case for the BAU this spring and the show will make certain revelations as well.

On the other hand, Reid will be facing a new problem since he will be placed behind the bars. He will be meeting a wide array of faces that include "Lost" alum Harold Perrineau being in the role of Calvin Shaw. Over the coming weeks, Reid will be portraying the good side about him, Catermatt reported.

There will be a notable guest appearance that will be coming along the way and that includes Tatum O'Neal, an Oscar winner. She will appear by March 15 on the upcoming episode title "Resistance is Futile" where she'll play a role of Miranda White.
