There are new evolution items in "Pokemon Go" that were introduced by the most recent update. To be able to use these fresh evolution items, you need to match them with the right Pokemon.

"Pokemon Go," evolution items can be gathered from PokéStops. However, evolution items are not general purpose items like potions or berries. They are specifically intended for certain types of Pokémon. For instance, if you want to use a Sun Stone, there are two specific Pokémon that requires it to evolve. Here is our latest guide on how to use Sun Stone to get Sunflora and Bellossom.

In the near future, there may be more "Pokémon Go" evolutions that would require the Sun Stones. At present, Sun Stones are only required to evolve Bellossom and Sunflora according to the Silph Road.

The possible evolution of the Gen 1 Pokémon Gloom is a Bellossom, which is an evolution of Oddish. If you evolve a Gloom in "Pokemon Go," without a Sun Stone you will get the Gen 1 Pokémon Vileplume. On the other hand, with the Sun Stone, when you evolve the Gloom, you get a Bellossom.

According to its Pokédex entry, Bellossom is a grass-type Pokémon. It does not offer predominantly strong stats in the main games, although it is most likely that it could get some boost in "Pokémon Go." Even if Bellossom is not the best fighter, you will still need one to complete your collection.

Meanwhile, Sunflora is a Gen 2 Pokémon that evolves from Sunkern, another Gen 2 Pokémon. There is no alternate evolution for Sunflora in "Pokemon Go" if you do not own a Sun Stone. Sunflora, according to its Pokédex entry, can transform sunlight into energy and is only skilled at moving around during the daytime. It is a grass-type Pokemon with decent stats and a mainly strong Special Attack.
