"America's Got Talent" host Nick Canon seems to be having some issues with his bosses and will be leaving the show as a result. On Monday, the comedian said he would step down from his position as the show's host after he was "threatened with termination" by executives at NBC over some jokes he made at the show's expense on his comedy special on Showtime.

According to a report by Decider, Cannon joked about how he was not allowed to use the n-word whenever he hosts "America's Got Talent" on NBC, but wanted his special on Showtime to be "raw and real" that NBC might as well stand for "N***** Better Come on, cause n*****rs be cussing. So n***** be careful."

NBC was none too pleased with these remarks and word of the joke had already reached the TV network's executives before the special was aired. NBC brass suggested that Cannon should be terminated from "America's Got Talent" after making remarks that were disparaging the NBC brand.

A report from TMZ says the executives eventually decided that the joke was not enough to warrant firing the host, but Cannon was angered by the mere possibility of him being fired that he decided to call it quits anyway. Interestingly enough, the comedian even thought that he would be fired last week, telling Howard Stern - who is a former judge on "America's Got Talent" - that he would sue the network if it decided to terminate him over a joke.

Cannon would post a lengthy statement on his Facebook page explaining his decision to quit the show, saying that it was something that hurt him tremendously and that being the host of "America's Got Talent" was "nothing, but a joy". Cannon began hosting "America's Got Talent" in 2009 after taking over for Jerry Springer who hosted the show for two seasons (2007-2008).
