Television has been brimming with plenty of superhero shows as of late, and quite frankly we could not be any happier about it. One particular show that has the potential to claim the title of being the best superhero themed show on TV is "Legion." "Legion" is an X-men spinoff and tells the story of a minor character from the popular comic book series. Even though the show is based on a minor character from Marvel's mutant mythology, it has no connection to the movie franchise whatsoever. As a matter of fact, the discreet "X" that pops up on the letter "O" of the show's title is perhaps the only thing that gives it some sort of a connection to the "X-Men" franchise.

While it might seem like a bad thing on the outside, this lack of connection actually gives "Legion" more leeway to develop its plot. The story centers on David Haller (Dan Stevens), a troubled young man who has no freedom. After he gets diagnosed as a schizophrenic, he gets sent to the Clockworks Psychiatric Hospital. David constantly hears voices in his head and sees things that aren't even there, and the audience knows this since they can see and hear them, too.

Whenever he gets caught up in a moment of crisis, the troubled young man appears to trigger some uncanny abilities from within as a result of his own delusions. In one memorable scene, David lets out a telekinetic blast that would be enough to level a kitchen, per The Guardian.

The premiere episode of "Legion" does a good job of showing viewers what David's early life was like and what he goes through on a daily basis inside Clockworks. Even though the story can be sometimes a bit messy and chaotic, it still does a good job of letting viewers know that all of the madness being strewn into the story is the point the show is trying to make. Per Gamespot, Dan Stevens does a good job of portraying the role of Haller and shines whenever he talks about how crazy his character really is. Needless to say, the first episode of "Legion" was pretty brilliant and we can only hope that the rest of the episodes this season will follow suit.
