One of the more interesting stories of the NBA this year has been Cleveland's lack of a backup playmaker. LeBron James has been very vocal about this in several interviews and his frustrations recently boiled over when he addressed the media about the front office's inability to acquire players who could add more depth to their bench.

More trade rumors involving the Cavs have been beginning to swirl as the trade deadline draws near, and two names that have emerged as potential targets for Cleveland are Jose Calderon and Andrew Bogut. The Cavaliers have already made some moves this season by acquiring veteran sharpshooter Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Mo Williams and Mike Dunleavy.

The Cavs struggled throughout January and capped off the month with a loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The Cavaliers went 7-8 in January, which was the first losing month for LeBron James since February 2006 - his third season in the league. The four-time league MVP was not happy as the losses continued to pile up and went on an expletive-filled rant asking Cleveland's front office to acquire another playmaker.

Mario Chalmers, James' former teammate during his tenure with the Miami Heat, was initially viewed as the favorite to land a deal with Cleveland. However, Chalmers was only interested in signing with the Cavs if the team would keep him for the remainder of the season, according to a report from ESPN.

Jordan Farmar eventually ended being the leading candidate as he was willing to sign a 10-day contract with the team. He was also told he would be the one the Cavs would sign from the workout. Lance Stephenson was also present during the workout and is also willing to sign a 10-day contract as well.

The Cavaliers are currently holding off from signing these players as they still hope to land other players who might become available in the coming weeks. Cleveland currently has the highest payroll in the league and are over the salary cap, so they will need to be patient if they wish to acquire Bogut and Calderon, according to a report from Fox Sports.
