It has been two weeks now since the production started on the MGM's highly anticipated film "Tomb Raider". Surprisingly, Alicia Vikander has been revealed to play as the lead star of the movie as shown in the first set of photos recently.

No matter how many times a video game movie fails, production is still not giving up in bringing out the best adaptation, and the film is ready to set for a second chance by 2018. After Angelina Jolie who starred from the two films in early 2000s, Warner Bros has recently turned its franchise over to Vikander, to play the adventure of Croft.

The film reboot will be directed by "The Wave" director Roar Uthaug and also just recently, they had begun rolling the cameras in order to meet its 2018 release date. There were some new casts who had joined the film, and the first set of photos unsurprisingly had focused on Vikander, Screenrant reported.

Based on the photos released, Vikander has already proved herself to be an impressive icon to play the role of Lara Croft. The Swedish actress was sporting a low-cut khaki top and tight black trousers. She also had performed into several stunts on top of a wooden bar on the South African set for the film, Daily Mail reported.

With her brown hair tied into Croft's trademark braid, this 28-year old star was also held by a wire on the long plank which made her appeared suspended into the air. During the shoot, she was seen hanging from the plank before she crawled, attempting to climb on top again.

The star was sweat drenched while showing off her toned arm muscles as she hung from the bar. This new film is expected to revolve around a young Lara who goes on her first archaeological adventure as her way of following her father's footsteps.
