The new season of "Samurai Jack" will be premiering on March 11, and this time it will have a much darker tone than the previous four seasons. The announcement was made and confirmed by Cartoon Network on Monday. This might finally give fans the conclusion to Gendy Tartakovsy's beloved cartoon series which they have waited on for nearly 13 years.

As previously reported by Comicbook.com, Samurai Jack season 5 was announced via a promotional teaser on Adult Swim which aired in December 2015. The season will air 10 episodes and Tartakovsky will also be returning for the new season.

Fans will also be happy to know that the voice of "Jack", Phil LaMarr, will be returning as well. The final episode of the original four season run of "Samurai Jack" aired in 2004, but was never really able to provide any closure for the titular character who was still displaced in the distant future ruled by his evil nemesis Aku.

Tartakovsky and his crew have been pretty quiet on the story of the new season, but what we do know is that the new season will take place several years after the season four's final episode. Jack will also appear more "lost" to despair as he has been spending so many years trying to go back to his own time.

The third season gave fans some hints on what the future holds for the prince when he discovered a time portal that could transport him back to the past. The portal was being guarded by a mighty warrior, and the ending of the episode hinted that Jack would indeed go back home, but it would take him several years to do so.

As reported by Polygon, Tartakovsky announced that season 5 of "Samurai Jack" would be the "final journey" for Jack and the rest of the show's characters. He added that whatever happens in the season's final episode will be the end of it.
