Fans who have been eagerly anticipating the premiere of CBS All Access series "Star Trek: Discovery" are going to have wait a little bit longer as the show has been delayed again. The show was previously announced to premiere in May, but the addition of James Frain portraying Spock's father, Sarek, has caused the show's premiere to be delayed even further.

The news was first reported by Entertainment Weekly who also revealed that the upcoming series will be headed by Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg. According to a statement released by CBS All Access, production for the show will begin next week. "We love the cast, the script, and are excited about the world the producers have created", the statement said.

Spock's father, Sarek, was first introduced in the original "Star Trek" from the 1970s and has had several appearances throughout most of the franchise's incarnations over the last several decades. The new series will feature the Enterprise that many Star Trek fans are familiar with, but it will now be called the U.S.S. Discovery.

New characters will be introduced as they travel to the vast reaches of space in search of new worlds and civilizations. It will still retain some of the elements that made the old Star Trek incarnations so memorable as the new series will be exploring some of the dynamic themes that fans of the franchise have grown to love.

Sonequa Martin-Green who plays Sasha in AMC's "The Walking Dead" will portray a lieutenant commander in "Discovery". According to the Hollywood Reporter, production for season seven of "The Walking Dead" has already wrapped up and should Sasha survive, the show will not return to production until this summer.

Other stars who have been announced for the inaugural season of "Star Trek: Discovery" include Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, and Anthony Rapp. Season 1 will have 13 episodes and due to the most recent delay, it could premiere sometime this fall.
