"A Dog's Purpose" is a film which has been produced by Amblin Entertainment and is distributed by Universal Pictures. It is supposed to be a movie of celebration of the special connection between dogs and their pet owners.

In the spirit of their relationship, the production team has followed rigorous protocols while shooting the film that will foster safety for the animals in the movie. However, just recently, the PETA or People for Ethical Treatment of Animals has called for a boycott for the film due to the leaked video.

It was shown in the video that a dog was forced to go into the running water for the set. PETA has called all dog lovers to boycott the film in order to send a message to dog lovers that animals should be treated humanely and should not be used as props, Variety reported.

The call for boycott came last Wednesday due to the footage of a German Shepherd named Hercules who was forced to do the scene. According to Amblin Entertainment, they are now into the review of what was shown in the edited footage. They are confident that they had shown great care and concern for the dog named Hercules.

PETA filed a complaint at the US Department of Agriculture. PETA's investigation about the leaked video also revealed that animals were denied of veterinary care and which were forced to sleep outdoors in cold without bedding for warmth. American Humane Association also added that they had reviewed the video and was disturbed and concerned about the footage.

Meanwhile, according to Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures released an official statement. According to their production team, there were days of rehearsal for their water scenes to ensure that Hercules is comfortable with all the stunts. However, on the day of shoot, the dog didn't perform well, therefore, the production team didn't proceed with the shoot.
