It has been known that Vine will be shut down, and today, it finally happens. Twitter will discontinue the mobile app, and today is the last day to save your Vines.

In October, Twitter announced its plans to discontinue the Vine mobile app, PCMag reported. The announcement came after the company confirmed plans to lay off about 350 of its global workforce due to restructuring. Three months after the announcement, the app is finally shutting down.

Today will be the last day that you can download and save your favorite six-second clips and comments from Vine, otherwise, they will be gone forever. The app pioneered a new style of short-form clips for social media, CNET reported, and it became popular through its six-second video platform.

There are two options to save your Vines. First, you can go to Vine.co and click the "Download Your Vines" button. You're going to need to sign in, and afterwards, just click the button that says "Request Your Archive."  Doing that creates a ZIP file request of your Vines and then you will get an email when your file is ready to download. The download link will only be available for 72 hours, so be sure to open it right away.

Another option would be to open Vine app from your phone and click the "save videos" button.  You can then select videos that you want to keep and they will be saved to your camera roll under a "My Vines" album.

Vine fans need not worry, because Twitter will turn the platform into a recording app and the looping videos will upload directly to Twitter instead of to Vine. Also, Vine.co will stay online as an archive for sifting through old videos, but there won't be any new clips uploaded after Tuesday.
