"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was so popular and the game lived for so long. This is mainly thanks to the modding community and one of the best mods for the PC version of the game utilized Skyrim Script Extender or SKSE. It wasn't available for the "Skyrim: Special Edition," but the recent announcement suggests that it will be this coming March.

As PC Gamer reported, one of the most important mod-essential plugin for the original "Skyrim" is finally making its way to "Skyrm: Special Edition." This is a great deal of news for PC players of the game, especially those who rely on mods to further extend the game's longevity.

Based from the official announcement by Silverlock, the team behind the SKSE, the original Script Extender is really not intended to work with the Special Edition due to the plans of releasing SKSE64. The beta version of the optimized plugin for SE's 64bit architecture is scheduled to be out in mid-March according to the developers.

For those who have always steered clear of SKSE, it is a very essential plugin in order to make other mods work perfectly. This includes a number of gameplay overhauls and host some of the greatest additions to "Skyrim" such as SkyUI, Player HeadTracking, Alternative Start - Live Another Life and tons of NPC and companion mods like Interesting NPCs.

Other mods like RaceMenu, HDT Physics and Cloaks of Skyrim are some of the best mods in adding immersion in the game, making the game look and feel more modern than it originally was. These mods are only working as intended with SKSE installed. Special Edition didn't include all the concepts from these mods in the base game, making it look more like an HD remaster only.

SKSE is also essential with other additional functionalities like completely new sets of spells, additional quests that uses third party and user-generated maps. In short, utilizing SKSE for a 64bit environment will provide a smoother experience with bigger possibilities like one "Warzones - Civil Unrest" combined with further combat customization for a more satisfying experience.
