"Making A Murderer" is a Netflix documentary series filmed over a 10 period by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos. It follows the story of Steven Avery, who was released after serving 18 years of a 32 year sentence after he was proven innocent of the crime he was accused of, only to be faced with another charge similar to the one he was wrongfully convicted for.

Fans of the series will now be able to rest at ease because according to TV Guide a spokesperson from Netflix confirmed that Ricciardi and Demos are already working on new episodes which will have crucial details of the case after the first series has ended, so there will be a Season 2, but they have not decided on the release date just yet.

The first episode of the "Making A Murderer" was simultaneously released on YouTube and Netflix, to give viewers a chance to find out if they want to purchase a subscription on Netflix. The documentary series was such a hit that it spiked subscriptions to the streaming service company.

In Season 1, we see Steven Avery's freedom and his innocence which seem short lived since he was once again charged and arrested, along with his nephew, Brendan Dassey, due to the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. Her last known whereabouts was meeting with Steven Avery at his Auto Salvage shop to photograph a minivan he was going to sell.

Avery vehemently denies the allegations and claims that it is just a plot to discredit his wrongful conviction civil case. Brendan Dassey was convicted as an accessory and was imprisoned as well. According to this CBS 58 report, prosecutors have filed a brief in his appeal and claims that he was not coerced by the police into confessing to the crime.

In July 2016, a few months after the first season was released, Avery employed defense attorney, Kathleen Zellner, an expert in solving wrongful convictions, who claims that she already has forensic evidence that will prove Avery did not commit the crime he is accused of and is, in fact, going to appeal his conviction in 2017.

How this appeal turns out is definitely one of the things fans of the documentary series will want to see in Season 2. The life for Avery and Dassey has significantly changed since the premiere of the first season of "Making A Murderer", according to People, Season 2 will follow the appeals of both Avery and Dassey.

Season 1 was released on December 18, 2015. It has been a year and fans of the documentary series are ready to find out what has been happening to the case. Although there is no official release date for Season 2, Ricciardi and Demos has said that they have not stopped filming since Season 1 ended, so fans of the show can expect more revelations and hopefully have answers to all the questions raised in the previous episode when Season 2 airs.
