Rumors that "Sherlock" Season 4 will be canceled made rounds online. There were several hints about the end of BBC's drama series.

RadioTimes reported that the finale episode of the upcoming series hints on the show's end. Talks about the show's end first surfaced when star Benedict Cumberbatch was quoted saying the show might end with season 4.

"It might be the end of an era," Cumberbatch said. "It feels like the end of an era, to be honest. [Season 4] goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately."  The actor added that he would love to keep playing the character, but it sounds like there's a finality to season four that sits right with a busy Cumberbatch.

Meanwhile, "Sherlock" Season 4 has recently released a trailer which posed a very intriguing and relevant question for the fans: "What is the worst thing that you can do to your very best friends?"  More threats are waiting for Watson and Holmes.

The newly released trailer shows "Sherlock's" two main characters face new challenges with new villain Culverton Smith who will be played by Toby Jones.  The character is said to have a dark agenda against Sherlock.

Co-creator Steve Moffatt recently said that the characters will be taken to "a darker place" than ever before. But co-creator Mark Gatiss (who also plays Mycroft Holmes) said: "We always have to keep reiterating this hasn't suddenly become some kind of uber bleak sort of Scandi show." Amanda Abbington, who plays Mary Morsta, agreed by saying that the show is actually "really funny."

Season 4's episode 1 will be titled "The Six Thatchers" will air on January 1. Fans waited for almost three years for the season to be released, Slashfilm said.  iewers will be expecting to see a series full of action and mysteries.
