Stephen Curry, with an average of 3.8 made three-pointers this season, struggled with his shot during Golden State's 116-108 comeback victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Although he performed less Sunday, he still made more history from beyond the arc.

The Warriors' reigning MVP entered the contest tied with Steve Nash for 17th on the NBA's all-time list for 3-pointers made with 1,685. According to CBS Sports, the back-to-back MVP broke the tie around the six-minute mark of the third quarter after knocking one down from a few feet behind the arc. Curry was able to hit one more in the third quarter and finished the game shooting two for five from behind the arc, giving the Warriors superstar 1,687 3-pointers on his career.

The Warriors point guard revealed that as a youngster he studied Steve Nash, who also played point guard. Curry's career with the Warriors has in somewhat equaled and eclipsed that of Nash, who retired two years ago after 18 seasons in the NBA. Coming out from Santa Clara, Nash played 1,217 games. Curry, who went to Davidson College, has played 520.

CSN shares that Nash often works closely with Curry since he is the player development consultant coach for the Warriors. Because of this, Nash was rather pleased at being surpassed by Curry. Nash was quoted saying: "It's always fun to see the young guys climb the charts. I expect that he will be much higher on that list before he is finished with his incredible career."

Similar to Nash, Curry owns two MVP trophies and won his in back-to-back seasons. Both also presides over offenses that lead the NBA in scoring. Nash made eight trips to the All-Star Game, while Curry has made three. Furthermore, Nash has won three Player of the Month awards, while Curry has won eight. Curry has achieved one more goal that eluded Nash: an NBA championship.

Next up for Curry on the all-time 3-pointers list is Dirk Nowitzki, who has made 1,707 (and counting, whenever he returns from injury) in his career. J.R. Smith (1,715) and Dale Ellis (1,719) are above Nowitzki. Curry will likely move up a spot or two on the list this season, but he still has a long way to go to catch Ray Allen, who is No. 1 with 2,973. Meanwhile, this new milestone comes after Curry's record breaking 13 3-pointers below:
