The23-year-old heartthrob Matt Terry, former waiter from Bromley, Kent beat co-finalist Saara Aalto with a series of amazing vocal performances. According to Terry, winning will change his life and it's something he has wanted ever since. He said, "I have always known I wanted to sing but it was only since getting on the contest I've wanted it so much. It would change my life and my family's too", and "To be able to sing every day, work with incredible people and make music is a dream come true", Terry added.

After winning, Terry collapsed to the floor and began crying while saying thanks to everybody who supported him. He then lifted up and hugged Nicole Scherzinger, Mirror reported. Simon Cowell said to both finalists that they came into the finals as good singers and ended it as great singers. "Matt, what I promise you is we'll give you 100 percent. You were incredible too Saara", Simon added.

According to BBC, the total votes sent in the finals reached a total of 6.4 million. Earlier in the contest, Terry wept on stage as he saw support messages from his family including his parents. Matt's winning shocked some viewers since he came from the bottom two and needed to be in the semi-final sing off last weekend. After that, he bounced back singing alongside Kylie Minogue and Saara, and sung out his own three tracks, including "When Christmas Comes Around", which was written by ED Sheeran and now been released as Matt's debut single.

Before the X Factor finals, he said he hoped his female fans would vote for him even more. Despite the show being less successful than it was before, Judge Nicole said this is a great chance for Terry to go on to become a star. After promoting his single, Matt Terry will have his short break for Christmas before recording an album in the New Year.
