This is a collaboration that no one saw coming. Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift team up for "I Don't Wanna Live Forever," the movie soundtrack for "Fifty Shades Darker."

Swift, the highest paid musician for 2016, has not released an album since "1989" which came out two years ago. Fans were surprised when the star announced that she will be singing alongside Zayn for the sequel of "Fifty Shades of Grey." The track is described by iTunes as "two of pop's brightest stars team up for a passionate duet."

Swift's fans anticipated an album this year, since historically, the Grammy winner releases an album every fall, but this year is an exception. Although it took Swift at least two years to release a new album, she is still very visible in the music scene.

In July, she confirmed that she had written ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris' song "This Is What You Came For." She also candidly announced that she wrote Little Big Town's "Better Man."

The former One Direction member, Zayn, released his studio album, "Mind of Mine", earlier this year. The album peaked at number one making Zayn the first UK male artist to debut at number one in both UK and the States with his debut album.

According to NY Times, Swift and Malik's "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" was made available for paid download and streaming services just after 11 p.m. Thursday, although it was not immediately available on Spotify. It can be remembered that Swift pulled most of her catalog from the music company in 2014 following a dispute over royalties and service offering free music for listeners.

"I Don't Wanna Live Forever" hit the top spot on the US iTunes chart just after an hour of its release. The song is available for purchase at the US iTunes store for US$1.29. "Fifty Shades Darker" will be open in theaters next year on February 10.
