After spoilers came out that someone is returning back to Mystic Falls after disappearing for a period, everyone presumed it was actress Nina Dobrev who will reprise her role as Elena. However, the actress did not officially announced her comeback to the show. The CW confirmed that they were already in the talks with Dobrev for her return but it has yet to come to a finalization.

The answer as to who will come back is actually Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig). He was last seen in the seventh season finale where he was abducted by a crazed Bonnie (Kat Graham). After ramming their car onto a tree, Matt hallucinated of his dead wife telling him to leave the place. What could have been Matt's reason for coming back?

In article released by The Futon Critic, the synopsis for episode four titled "An Eternity Of Misery" reads: A SUPERNATURAL ORIGIN STORY - Tasked with finding a mysterious artifact, Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) latest mission takes him to Texas where a violent run-in with Peter Maxwell (guest star Joel Gretsch) leads to a surprising revelation. Meanwhile, after gaining the upper hand in their fight to save Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis) team up and uncover the origins of the mysterious force they're up against. Finally, Matt (Zach Roerig) returns to the fray after his past and present collide in an unexpected way.

On the other hand, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis) team up to find a way to save Damon (Ian Somerhalder) who is bound to Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) along with Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Under Sybil's orders, Damon attacked Tyler (Michael Trevino) and whether or not Tyler survived is still unknown.

After getting their hands on Sybil, all thanks to Alaric's tuning fork, the two tried to work things out by speaking with her. However, they were unsuccessful as Sybil only responded with vague statements, according to an article by the Parent HeraldFind out what happens as "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 4, "An Eternity of Misery," airs on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
