An adaptation of the Academy Award winning film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" as a TV series is reportedly in development with Anonymous Content, the producer of hit shows like "True Detective" and "Mr. Robot", along with Universal Cable Productions serving as producers.

As Indiewire reported, the project is still in the very early stage of development with talks of Zev Borow, that has "Chuck" and "Forever" on his writing portfolio, writing the script. Anonymous Content's Steve Golin also produced the original film which makes the possibility of the project to likely push-through.

The 2004 film with its star-studded cast of Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood and Mark Ruffalo won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay by Charlie Kaufman and ranked 8th on The Guardian's list of 25 Best Romantic Films of All Time. No news of Kaufman's involvement in the TV series has so far surfaced.

The movie directed by Michael Gondry, follows the story of Joel, played by Jim Carrey, who underwent the process of erasing his ex, played by Kate Winslet as Clementine, from his memory. During the process however, his feelings reignited when all their moments together were repeated as a dream.

On the other hand, The AV Club was not excited about the news, citing that the absence of most people, except producer Steve Golin, involved in the original film for the TV show adaptation is slightly disheartening. The site hailed "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", among a list of 50 others, as the Best Film of '00s.

As mentioned, the project is still on its early stage and yet to be pitched on various networks that would provide its air time. Given the film's success, the planned TV show should not have any problem in landing a network, though definitely facing a very big shoes to fill.
