Phoenix, for what it's known, is not just simply about visiting resorts. Travelers may do and try a lot of activities from simply shopping to hiking, watching a football game, and at least try one of its reservation casinos.

Here are the top five things you can do to enjoy your stay in Phoenix.

1. Camelback Mountain

Located at 5700 North Echo Canyon Parkway, approximately halfway between Scottsdale (to the southeast) and the Phoenix Mountains Preserve (to the northwest), travelers may hike at Camelback Mountain from sunrise to sunset for free.

Camelback Mountain is considered the highest peak in Phoenix. The 2,704 feet high mountain offers the most scenic hiking spot in the city, taking the breaths of hikers with the views of Phoenix and Scottsdale. It can be reached by the 1.2 mile Summit Trail or 1.5 mile Cholla Trail.

2. Phoenix Zoo

Bring out that animal lover within you and visit the Phoenix Zoo! This place is not only enjoyable for the kids, but the kids at heart also. This 125-acre zoo houses a variety of animals including baboons, Sumatran tigers, Asian elephants, Galápagos tortoises and Komodo dragons. You may also get your kids closer to nature and animals as well as yourselves and let them get face to face with giraffes and also get a chance to feed them. A safari train is also available inside the zoo.

3. Phoenix Art Museum

If you're not into nature, then maybe this one destination is for you! Unleash your artsy side and come visit the Phoenix Art Museum. It is the largest art museum in the Southwest with more than 17,000 works of art. This museum is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with extended hours on Wednesday until 9 p.m.) and Sunday afternoons from noon to 5 p.m. Entrance costs $6 for children and $15 for adults.

4. Chase Field

Watching a game in the Chase Field is considered as "one of the greatest experiences a basedball fan can have." Located at 401 East Jefferson Street, you will surely enjoy watching the Arizona Diamondbacks play here. You don't have to be a diehard baseball fan to have fun!
