London - German Gymnasium is officially named as the most beautiful restaurant in the world by the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

Business Insider UK has reported that The Awards is now in its eighth anniversary, recognizing impressive food and beverage worldwide.

German Gymnasium just opened in November 2015 and already ranked as the Best Overall Restaurant.

History of German Gymnasium:

It was originally designed as the first purpose-built gym in England. The building is situated in the heart of vibrant King's Cross. The place serves Mittel-European inspired cuisines for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It is part of D&D London, an international class of restaurants, bars and one cool hotel. It includes Quaglino's, Le Pont de la Tour and Coq d'Argent.

German Gymnasium was drafted by Edward Gruning and built in 1865. The funding solely came from London's German community. The gymnasium was constructed for German Gymnastics Society and presented the indoor events London's first Olympic Games in 1866.

German-born Executive Chef Bjoern Wassmuth has 14 years of international experience. He is formerly the Kitchen Director at Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg.

As an acknowledgment to the site's German culture, he has created some classic Mittel-European menus.

Present German Gymnasium:

The restaurant includes and al fresco terrace, an all-day Grand Café, a patisserie counter and Meister Bar.

The restaurant has high ceiling, keeping its original features intact and mixed with modern details. It is designed by Conran & Partners.

The first level restaurant provides guests the opportunity to enjoy European cuisines and Eastern European wines.

The Grand Café consisting of Victorian archways, cast steel columns and natural light makes a perfect spot to enjoy German heritage of Kaffee and Kuchen.

Lastly, Meister Bar gives a unique cocktail experience. Le Whaf, a special carafe is used in several options on the menu.

London DJs play from Thursday to Saturday at nine o'clock in the evening.
