Obama: American Economy Is 'Strongest' in the World

"The United States of America, right now, has the strongest, most durable economy in the world," US President Barack Obama said. "It's change that promises amazing medical breakthroughs, but also economic disruptions that strain working families," the president added.

This is what president stressed during his last State of the Union address.

The president also tackled the issue on jobs. He said that the country is in the middle of the longest streak of private-sector job creation in history, with at least 14 million new jobs created for the past two years. This, he said, is the most durable two years of job growth since the '90s. The unemployment rate was also cut in half, with the auto industry being the best year ever.

The USA, under his administration, is seven years into a recovering from the worst economic crisis. "In this new economy, workers and start-ups and small businesses need more of a voice, not less. The rules should work for them. And this year I plan to lift up the many businesses who've figured out that doing right by their workers ends up being good for their shareholders, their customers, and their communities, so that we can spread those best practices across America."

The president also emphasized the need to fix its broken political system.

"The future we want - opportunity and security for our families; a rising standard of living and a sustainable, peaceful planet for our kids - all that is within our reach. But it will only happen if we work together. It will only happen if we can have rational, constructive debates. It will only happen if we fix our politics," the president said.

Obama stressed that regardless of who the next president is, it is very important that priorities should be set. The American people should be able to live even better under the new economy.
