Annual music festival will celebrate 4 days of live performances this coming 2016

The Lollapalooza organizers announced last November 3 that the event will extend to 4 days instead of the usual 3 in order to celebrate its 25th anniversary. 2016 also had a lot of promising musical acts thus an a day was added in order to accommodate them.

The music festival is based off Chicago and was founded in 1991 by Perry Farrell, frontman of Jane's addiction.

'It's our 25th Anniversary and we wanted to do something really special and different for our fans. There's a lot of really great music coming out in 2016; with the abundance of talent that wanted to help us celebrate 25 years we got to thinking -- How are we going to fit all those great artists in one weekend? So, we've put together an entire additional day of music to celebrate our milestone year. It's going to be a fantastic party!' Farell mentioned in a press release.

170 musicians are expected to join in on the fun next year. The event anniversary will be start on July 28 Thursday and lasts until July 31 Sunday. Tickets are sold at $120 per day and the discounted 4-day pass is at $335 with the promise that tickets will go on sale this coming spring.

The musical festival which features popular rock, EDM, and hip hop acts started out in 1991 as Jane Addiction's farewell tour. It was then held in different cities every year until it stopped in 1997. Event organizers then felt the need to revive Lollapalooza in 2004 but was canceled because it did not generate enough ticket sales. It was continued in Chicago's Grant Park and has been staged there annually ever since. Events were also staged in various countries like Brazil, Chile and Germany.

Lollapalooza 2015 sold out within minutes when it was announced and had about 130 musical performers, including Paul McCartney, Sam Smith and Metallica as lead acts.
