Michael Jackson's love of play and his youthful spirit were well known, but many might not know that The Gloved One once created an attraction for "The Happiest Place on Earth", in its Florida, California, Paris, and Tokyo locations.

Captain E.O. was a 3D science-fiction film that Michael Jackson starred in. Francis Ford Coppola directed the movie and George Lucas was the producer. The film was about a captain of a spaceship and his crew of misfits who want to deliver a gift to "The Supreme Leader", who lives on a world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents. Featuring two songs written by Jackson and Hollywood heavyweight Angelica Huston playing the Supreme Leader, it's not surprising that it ran in the Disney parks starting in 1986 and stopped during the 90s.

One year after Michael Jackson's death, however, the attraction was reinstated. The idea was actually started by a cult following of the film on the internet. They had started a petition, and when Jackson died the campaign reached new levels of support. In February of 2010, Captain E.O. knocked Honey I Shrunk The Audience out of the Disneyland theater in California.

According to Wikipedia: "The attraction re-opened at Disneyland on February 23, 2010. The attraction returned to Discoveryland at Disneyland Park (Paris) on June 12, 2010, returned to Epcot at Walt Disney World on July 2 and to Tokyo Disneyland on July 1."

While the King of Pop has passed on three years ago today, his music -- and, apparently, his films -- are still loved by audiences worldwide.
