AMC has already given two nods to its upcoming 'Walking Dead' spinoff, thereby securing fans that they can enjoy two seasons of non-stop action from the new zombie apocalypse-themed offering of the network.

AceShowbiz has learned that AMC has already ordered its 'Walking Dead' spinoff to work on two seasons even before the show premieres on the network.

Perhaps AMC is confident enough that the show would click given that its mother series has been enjoying strong ratings for the past five seasons.

"We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show (in young adults) on television. From the beginning of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, we've been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did 'turn.' Through this new series, we're going to find out," said AMC President Charlie Collier in a statement Monday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of the comic book series where the hit show "Walking Dead' was based on, co-wrote the pilot episode for the spinoff, alongside 'Sons of Anarchy' writer-producer Dave Erickson. On the other hand, Adam Davison directed the premiere episode.

Following Collier's announcement, Kirkman said. "We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC. I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story."

Meanwhile, Erickson gushed, "This vote of confidence from our partners at AMC is gratifying, to say the least. We've been blessed with amazing writers and a stellar cast-and we can't wait to build this apocalyptic drama over the next two seasons and hopefully beyond."

Per several sources, the 'Walking Dead' spinoff stars Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Kim Dickens and Alycia Debnam Carey.

The still untitled spinoff is set in Los Angeles. The six-episode premiere season is reportedly premiering in late summer.
