Man hands out $100 bills at fast food restaurants in Hyannis, and employees are left with cheers in their hearts. The Secret Santa on passed out holiday cheer over the past few days, the man handing out $100 bills anonymously to the employees.

The man handing out $100 bills went around with white envelopes that contained the bills. They were stamped with a big, red "Merry Christmas" on top.

As the man hands out $100 bills, he went around to Marylou's, two Dunkin' Donuts, and two McDonald's restaurants in Hyannis. Nobody recognizes him, and he reportedly always hands out the same number of white envelopes as there are employees, reports the Boston Globe.

It appears the man handing out $100 bills has a soft spot for hard-working and under-appreciated fast food workers.

"They were crisp, too. It was like it came right from the bank," according to 22-year-old Brittany Coy, an assistant manager at Marylou's coffee shop, one of the restaurants in Hyannis visited by the mystery Santa Claus.

Coy added the man handing out $100 bills came into Marylou's Friday afternoon wearing a long brown coat. He also reportedly had a "little brown beard," and wore a cowboy hat. She had never met him before his visit that day. First he ordered coffee then returned later with the money.

"He said, 'Is there a manager that works here?' " Coy said.

The man handing out $100 bills reportedly then asked for the assistant manager. He then asked how many employees were working at the store. After the question, he then pulled the envelopes - 15, the same number of employees in the stire - from a large stack and handed them over before he left.

Victoria Grandy, Marylou's Manager, told the Cape Cod Times "MERRY CHRISTMAS" was printed in red on the front of each envelope.

According to one employee, as the man hands out $100 bills, he resembled Santa Claus, though nobody truly recognized him as a regular.

The man handing out $100 bills is reportedly believed to be the same person who handed over eight envelopes to Dunkin' Donuts workers Monday at the Cape Cod Mall, however this time wearing a ball cap.

Those employees also didn't recognize him as a regular, according to the Associated Press.

Manager Tim Martel, 23, working at a Dunkin' Donuts on Iyannough Road, said the gifts actually come from someone besides the delivery man. He added that they arrive every year.

Last year same time, a woman also came around to the same restaurants and handed out envelopes with $50, said employees at several area restaurants.

"I've heard they're all representatives of an anonymous" donor, said Martel. "From what I've heard, he targets ... the fast food service industry."

"I've heard of it in the past, but it's always been around the Barnstable, Hyannis area."

"We were saying how generous he was, and how it helps a little bit during Christmas time," Coleen Muldoon, a Burger King employee, said.

"He literally just came in and started asking how many people work here in the store, I answered that we have about five or six on staff, and he just started pulling out these little envelopes and handing them out, and inside each one was a hundred dollar bill," said another employee named Patrick Nee, this time from  Dunkin' Donuts.

The man handing out $100 bills has reportedly been doling out the holiday cash for the last few years, according to WHDH. Still, no one has any idea who he is. However, he was described as an old and tall gentleman with a big heart.
