A Delaware mother was arrested in relation to a 4-year-old heroin incident which occurred Monday. The 4-year-old heroin incident occurred after the daughter of 30-year-old Ashley Tull from Selbyville innocently brought hundreds of heroin packets to her daycare.

Delaware State Police said the child eventually passed out the heroin thinking they were only candy.

According to authorities, troopers and medical personnel responded to the 4-year-old heroin incident after getting a call from Hickory Tree Child Care Center in Selbyville around 11:45 a.m. on Monday. Day care workers apparently saw several of the children in the daycare with small bags containing an unknown substance, reports Q13 Fox News.

Police said the 4-year-old heroin occurrence took place as Tull gave her daughter a different backpack for school. The girl's regular backpack had reportedly been ruined by the family pet the previous night.

Police determined that the backpack contained nearly 250 packets of heroin, which totals to nearly four grams. They were all labeled "Slam," reports the Associated Press.

Investigators said the substance was transported to the Selbyville Police Department. There it was determined to be heroin.

Though none of the packets were actually opened in the 4-year-old heroin incident, several of the children who received the drug were taken to area hospitals as a precaution, according to Reuters. Police said all of the kids were later released after examinations.

Master Cpl. Gary Fournier, Delaware's State Police spokesman told The News Journal of Wilmington that he believes the day care center was able to manage the 4-year-old heroin situation properly as they notified police immediately after it took place.

However, the center has not returned any calls by Tuesday morning.

Tull was charged with three counts of child endangerment and drug possession after the 4-year-old heroin episode, Delaware State Police said in a statement.

On Monday, Tull was arraigned and released from jail after posting $6,000 bond, according to police. She also did not return any calls left at a home listing on Tuesday.

The child endangerment counts reportedly relates to Tull's three children as well. As part of her release after the 4-year-old heroin incident, she has been barred from coming into contact with any of her three children, who were aged 4, 9 and 11.

According to police, Tull's children are currently in the custody of a relative.

The 4-year-old heroin incident is still being investigated, said police.
