David Muir "ABC News" new anchor has officially taken over Diane Sawyer's spot on "World News Tonight" on Tuesday. David Muir has mentioned that there was no way he was inheriting a relic of TV's past. However, he mentioned that his acceptance of the spot was actually a ticket to the future.

The 40-year-old David Muir ABC News anchor said, "I've heard people say it's a dinosaur. I think the 6:30 news is more important than ever. After you've been bombarded with news all day, this is where we put it all together and let you see it all for what it really is."

David Muir, who has actually gone through the ranks of ABC in just a span of ten years, stated that the network's evening news was actually a complete package. It was not created to compete with 24/7 news, but it was actually present to complement it. He also mentioned that constant news was just a fact of life today.

Surprisingly, David Muir, despite his busy news reporting schedule, spends majority of his commercial breaks responding to the posts that he gets on his Twitter account.

David Muir also stated, "At ABC, all the walls in news have come down. You don't hold something any more to break it on the broadcast. You post it on abc.com and then we take the story forward." He admitted that it consumed a lot of his time, but, being the news man that he was, he also admitted that he likes it a lot.

David Muir said, "I can report from the field with a tiny camera and a laptop. We're more nimble now." He is admittedly hopeful that this flexibility will allow him to escape one of the nagging side effects of becoming a primary news anchor, such as spending only very little time actually covering today's stories.
