Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 at first seemed just like what it meant - a simple wardrobe malfunction. The slip occurred during the rapper's "Bang Bang" performance at the 2014 Video Music Awards on Aug. 24. However, a shocking new report has revealed that Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 is staged, reports Hollywood Life.

Before the alleged fake Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014, the 31-year-old first performed her song "Anaconda". She then slipped backstage to change into a black mini dress. She later returned on stage to join Jessie J and Ariana Grande for a live rendition of their song "Bang Bang," but apparently the LBD was too little for her voluptuous body.

During the trio's performance, Minaj held on to her dress with both hands, hoping that they are enough to save her from going too all out and still keep the show going. Minaj rapped her part on Ariana's "Bang Bang."

In defence to the alleged unintentional Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014, Minay said there was just not enough time for her to zip up her dress. Apparently, she had to rush directly from her "Anaconda" performance into her "Bang Bang" performance at the MTV VMA's in Los Angeles.

However, the new report on Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 revealed that hours before the show, she was seen awkwardly holding the same dress together during a rehearsal.

Despite Jessie J and Ariana Grande's stellar exchange of vocal chords on stage, all eyes were on Nicki since she seemed to be preoccupied holding on to her cleavage and crotch, attempting to keep them from bursting out of her LBD.

The new report was revealed by eyewitness sources, according to TMZ. Minaj allegedly already pulled the same stunt while doing a dress rehearsal Sunday morning. The witnesses reportedly saw the rapper holding on to the exact same unzipped ensemble.

According to an insider, even as the Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 was claimed to have been accidental, the wardrobe rehearsal showed Minaj suspiciously pulling on the dress to see which areas would be exposed.

The site reports, "One eyewitness says it caught her eye because she initially thought Nicki had come out in a robe. We're told Nicki was wrapping her arms around the dress in a 'weird' sort of way ... trying to manipulate it to see how much would be exposed."

Another thing adding to suspicions over the authenticity of Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 was the fact that the VMAs had its own makeshift dressing room right off stage. TMZ said Nicki could have easily changed if she wanted to, despite time constraints.

According to The New York Post, Nicki was asked after the show what went wrong with her performance wardrobe. E! News reports that the rapper appeared backstage and yelled to reporters, "You all know I had a wardrobe malfunction... We ran out of time getting the dress zipped up."

Later, the Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014 was explained by Nicki herself on her Instagram account. She cited how thankful she was of having avoided a nip slip.

She captioned her photo, "God is good. As long as a nipple didn't come out to play, I'm fine. Love my team. CASPER, Rushka, Adam, Oscar, Joyce, Gee... Many more to name but they're all winners! No weak links. There's no greater feeling than having ppl who inspire u and who work passionately and relentlessly to get the job done."

In a separate post, Minaj also claimed that she wasn't ready to reveal all, according to The New York Post.

She said, "I held on to that dress for DEAR LIFE!!! There was no bra and no panties to save me. Took real commitment."

Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction 2014, whether on purpose or by accident, is not the singer's first on-air slip, however. In 2012, according to Fox News, her top slid down during a performance on "Good Morning America."
