Fleas infest New York courthouse and for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, the courthouse was forced to close down, said officials. According to the Daily News of Batavia, New York state court officials said that as fleas infest New York courthouse, it has remain closed Tuesday after shutting down Monday.

Charles Nesbitt, the county's chief administrative officer, told The Buffalo News that he first heard the problem of fleas infest New York courthouse last Friday.

According to Reuters, county spokesman Chuck Nesbitt said that as fleas infest New York courthouse, it has closed down and is now airing out after the flea infestation in recent days. The Orleans County Courthouse in Albion is situated about 34 miles northwest of Rochester.

Nesbitt said, 'There needs to be a period of ventilation prior to re-occupation.'

According to the Daily Mail, court system officials said the cleanup began Monday after fleas infest New York courthouse and the parasites have been confirmed running wild throughout the entire courthouse. 

While local media said the problem of fleas infest New York courthouse was first reported late last week, Nesbitt said it still remains unclear as to how the courthouse was overrun by fleas in the first place.

According to the Daily Mail, as fleas infest New York courthouse the historic 19th century building was sprayed on by an exterminator from top to bottom Saturday and Monday. During this time, courthouse employees have already been sent home.

The courthouse reportedly includes the Orleans County state Supreme Court and county and Surrogate courts.

As fleas infest New York courthouse, a statement on the New York courts website said that Orleans County family Court matters have been transferred to the village hall in rural Albion. Court matters have also been re-scheduled because of the closure. Albion is located 30 miles west of Rochester.

Reports say the unfortunate courthouse will be reopening Wednesday morning. Flea poison fumes would likely clear by then and the building will be safe for use again, said Nesbitt. However, Nesbitt added that final decision on the court's reopening still lay with court officials.

Reuters reports that court officials did not return calls for comments on Tuesday.

Fleas infest New York courthouse and an inspection of the courthouse will be performed sometime today to secure that the facility is free of critters.
