When the world was divided up into hemispheres, latitudes and longitudes, the variations of climate spread across the world just as easily. We have different climates within the North American region alone, where schools are affected by extreme weathers. Some of the average temperatures range from -30 degrees F to 110 degrees F.

Here are some schools, which have been known to experience some of the coldest winters and most overwhelming amounts of snow! (Based on Accuweather, The Weather Channel, and Niche)

Minnesota State University

Based on the previously stated weather networks, the state of Minnesota experiences the coldest weather as a whole rather than just in this University alone.

With other schools on the list, such as Concordia College, and College of Saint Benedict, some towns in Minnesota need the best wishes for when summer comes to an end.

And, although Minnesota State has been deemed number one for experiencing the coldest winter, it is NOT number one for the school to experience the most snow.

Syracuse University

According to The Weather Channel, Syracuse has once reached the highest level of snow - 126.3"!

And all because of the lake-effect snow, high school seniors have to decide weather getting 10 feet of snow each year is worth the "best years of thier life."

If you love snow, then you will enjoy everything else about this wonderful school.

St. Lawrence University

SLU is located in Canton, NY, with SUNY Canton, SUNY Potsdam, and Clarkson University as neighboring schools. The St. Lawrence County has experienced temperatures of -38 in 2013 alone.

With that, SLU is listed on the list of 25 coldest schools, however it did not make the top 10.

This makes me wonder: how did Minnesota make the number one coldest school, when Accuweather records their coldest temperature to be only -11?

Of course, there are MANY other factors that determine the weather and the "feel" of the temperatures.

But having attended (and still do) Clarkson University, it was an experience of its own to see the number -38 on the television news channel.

In St. Lawrence County, it snows over night, and the snow turns to ice by morning. Some students ice-skate on the campus lawns and others do not even attend class because the weather is too much to handle!

But, after three years of living in the North Country, you learn to get used to it. - Maybe that is the determining factor that makes Minesota number one.
