According to website Slash Film, around half a dozen films have been considered before Steven Spielberg new film for 2015 and 2016 has been finalized and announced as his next two projects.

According to CBS News, a Monday announcement by DreamWorks revealed the Steven Spielberg new film for October next year. It will reportedly be of a Cold War spy thriller. This Steven Spielberg new film for Oct. 2015 is still unnamed, while Steven Spielberg new film planned for July 1, 2016 will be called "The BFG."

The Associated Press reports that the Steven Spielberg new film of a Cold War thriller will be starring Tom Hanks, portraying the character James Donovan, an attorney negotiating the return of an American pilot from the Soviet Union in 1960. Slash Film says that writer Matt Charman made the script that tells the true story of Atty. Donovan, who was unexpectedly placed in the middle of the Cold War for  negotiating the release of Gary Powers, a fallen U-2 spy plane pilot. Reports say that "BFG" stands for "Big, Friendly, Giant", and the story is of a young girl who happens to befriend a giant refusing to eat little kids, hence becoming an outcast in his community.
