According to the NY Post, both minors' case will be handled by the Family Court. She became aware of the situation only when she was told by someone what the kids had done, said cops.

The teacher who was poisoned is Johanna Cherepany. Her veter's water bottle was laced with the rat poison at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Bratton said about one of the boys, "The understanding is the 9-year-old wanted to see what the reaction would be. It's unfortunate where kids get these ideas. Fortunately we've got it handled. But God knows where kids get these ideas."

On Wednesday, the Department of Education made a statement regarding the two boys poison teacher saying, "We are greatly relieved that the teacher is recovering and we continue to closely monitor this situation. Ensuring the safety of our entire schools community is our priority, and while this matter is still under investigation, we will take swift and appropriate action."

The school where the boys poison teacher incident occurred currently has 841 students. It is also called the School of Performing Arts. It also houses PS 152, which is focused on science and technology.

According to NY Post, a similar poisoning incident took place earlier May in England when two 10-year-olds poured a bleach-like liquid into their teacher's coffee cup, The Sun newspaper reported.
