There's A Snake In My Loot! Casino Denies Claims Of Snakes Inside Their Building

Jan 29, 2014 03:23 PM EST

In a PR nightmare, The Sands Casino Resort in PA battle online rumours that gamblers are being bitten by rattlesnakes inside their casino.

A bizarre rumous had started online that the Sands Casino Resort in eastern Pennsylvania had problems with snakes biting the customers.  Casino spokeswoman Julia Corwin told the Express-Times that there were definitely no snakes in her casino.   "If I saw a snake I would jump on a table. If there was any sighting of this there would be no way that we couldn't know about it," she said.

Julia said they had become aware of the snakes only through social media and none were captured on CCTV.  She says that a post about a snake outside may have gotten misinterpreted somewhere along the line.  The original post stated that someone had went to a doctor with a snakebite and the doctor had asked whether the patient had been at the casino recently.

Social media has been the cause of many rumours going viral and ruining businesses.  American chain Applebee's fired an employee after she posted a receipt with the name and address of a customer on it with a complaint he had left about the tip being too high.   Applebee's customers then stormed the company's facebook in protest of the way they treated the employee.
